Retail Assistant
Apply nowDescription
Pendleside Hospice provides specialist palliative and end of life care to adults across Burnley and Pendle, supporting local people and their families when they need it most.
All our care is provided free of charge to patients and their families, but providing this care comes at a significant cost. It costs £6.8 million each year to run Pendleside Hospice, with £5.4 million needing to be raised through the generosity of our local community.
Our 9 charity shops across Burnley and Pendle play a vital role in helping us raise these funds. During 2025/26, our retail team generated an incredible £950,236 in income for the Hospice. This wouldn’t be possible without our dedicated volunteers, generous donors and wonderful shoppers.
The role of a Retail Assistant
Volunteering in one of our shops or donation centre is a great way to support your local hospice, share your skills and meet new people, all while making a real difference to patients and their families.
We have a variety of volunteering opportunities available across our retail team, all helping to support the day-to-day running of our shops. Roles include serving customers, visual merchandising, pricing and sorting donations, preparing stock for sale and helping behind the scenes.
We also have opportunities within our online retail centre, as well as volunteer retail drivers and drivers’ mates.
You can volunteer for as little as three hours per week, or more if you have the time. Whatever you can give, your support is incredibly valuable to us.
Volunteering is a rewarding way to meet new people, build friendships, learn new skills and gain experience, all while giving something back to your local community. You’ll be part of the Pendleside Hospice family, helping us continue to provide vital care to local patients and their loved ones.
